Portrait Artist Procedure

Step 1: Obtain Photos

You have the option to either send your own photos or have Lacie take photos and do a live painting study.  If at all possible, Lacie prefers to take her own photographs to ensure good composition and lighting.*

If you provide your own photos, remember the following tips:

  1. -Choose photos that were taken without an on-camera flash in order to avoid the subject(s) looking flat and washed out.  It is better to have angled, directional lighting.  If you do not have accessory flashes/lights, consider taking pictures outdoors during the golden hours of the day (early morning or evening). Look for photos where a natural shadow is visible on the subject(s). Good shadows will help in ensuring the portrait painting is a more accurate likeness.
  2. -Pay attention to color accuracy. Make sure your White Balance is set accurately on your camera in order to avoid color casts, (such as yellow color casts from fluorescent lighting).
  3. -The larger the photo, the better. Send digital pictures at a high resolution (240-300 ppi).
  4. -Please make sure that the subject(s) is in focus.
  5. -Avoid clothing with busy patterns and large logos as this type of clothing tends to pull attention away from the subject(s). Avoid faddish clothing to make your portrait timeless.

* Price does not include the cost of travel for Lacie. If you want Lacie to take the photos personally, then you’ll need to provide travel arrangements (if more than 30 miles from Naples, FL). If you opt to have Lacie take the photos, she may also have the subject(s) sit for a 2-3 hour live painting (facial study) to improve the quality of the portrait.

Step 2: Choose Portrait Size & Type

Choose the size of the portrait, type of portrait (head-and-shoulders, half-figure, full figure), and the number of subjects. Select preferred background setting. After you have made these choices, you will receive a price quote from artist. You’ll be required to pay a 25% deposit.

Step 3: The Painting Begins

Once Lacie has your photos and deposit, she will begin painting. You’ll may receive emails containing in-progress photos for your review. Scheduled completion date of newly commissioned portraits will be determined by the artist, depending upon the number of portraits already commissioned.

Step 4: Final Review & Shipping
Once Lacie has finished your portrait, you will be emailed a digital copy to review. Lacie will make alterations if necessary until you are satisfied with subject’s likeness. The final payment is due upon acceptance of the portrait. Once payment has been received, your portrait will be shipped to you. Shipping is paid for by client. Note: Artwork over 24 x 36 in will have an extra charge for over-sized shipping.

Reviews

Lacie, I am so excited to have Anna’s portrait completed. It is absolutely beautiful and exactly captures how I like to think of her while she is so far away. Whenever she comes home she’ll say “That’s Jesus And Me.” with a smile that says she feels a personal relationship with the Savior in the very same way her portrait shows. The portrait hangs on my wall at work. Each time I see it, it reminds me how grateful I am to you for your talent and willingness to share it with others.

Phillip, Idaho

Lacie, the portrait you did of my girlfriend was absolutely fantastic! She loved it; it was easily the best gift I’ve ever given. Thank you so much. You truly have an amazing talent.

Jared, Michigan
